"This is my first time speaking with a foreigner"

One sentence from yesterday’s school visit in the Philippines has stayed with me:

“This is my first time speaking with a foreigner.”

A student at Legazpi Science High School said this to the UK Ambassador, Sarah Hulton. Even with local leaders and teachers watching, he spoke with real confidence.

When asked how he felt so prepared, he pointed to his work with Addi, our AI learning companion.

He had spent hours practicing in a private space where it was okay to make mistakes — to stumble, try again, and find his footing without fear of judgment. By the time the Ambassador arrived, he wasn’t just using a tool; he was using his own voice.

This is the real goal of personalized learning.

Technology is not the hero of this story.
The student is.

For too long, having a safe space to practice and build confidence was a luxury reserved for those who could afford a personal tutor. By bringing these tools into every classroom, we’re not “fixing” students — we’re removing the barriers that prevent them from discovering how capable they already are.

When a student is no longer afraid to be wrong, they find the courage to be heard.

It starts with one classroom in Legazpi.

It scales across entire education systems.
